Fun fact: January is oatmeal month! And I am super excited to post this video for you guys because Jen, of the YouTube channel Just Eat Life TV (www.youtube.com/JustEatLifeTV), makes a guest appearance! We decided to collaborate on the deliciousness that is savory oatmeal!!! My version is oatmeal with celery, a fried egg, cheese--and Jen's genius addition--bacon! To make the savory oatmeal recipe shown in the video, you'll need: 3/4 cup oatmeal 1 1/2 cups water 3 stalks celery, chopped bacon (1-3 pieces, to taste) an egg, fried in the bacon fat cheese (parmesan or cheddar are my favorites), grated Put the water and oatmeal together in a pot over medium heat. Add the celery and combine. While the oatmeal and celery mixture is cooking, cook the bacon. Once the bacon is done, remove it from the pan and let sit on a plate lined with a paper towel. Once cooled, crumble the bacon. Crack an egg in the same pan you just cooked the bacon in. Fry it in the bacon fat :) By the time the egg is done cooking, your oatmeal should be about done. (I like my oats creamy--you remove from the heat according to how you like your oats). Put the oatmeal/celery mixture in a bowl. Top it with the egg, some grated cheese, and bacon. Creamy, crunchy, savory oatmeal!! Enjoy :)
